I’m currently (2020) a third year student at the University of Bristol. I’m on a four year Computer Science Integrated Masters course having done half a year abroad at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (cut short due to the HK protests).
I have a broad range of interests, especially around computers and building things. I’m sometimes asked why I didn’t choose Electrical and Electronic or any other kind of engineering. Computers and programming was what I was most into at the time I applied to University, so it’s what I’m doing now. If I had been more excited by design or electronics at that time, I would probably be doing something different. I don’t think that since I’m a “Computer Scientist” that I should spend all my time programming computers. I use much of my free time exploring the edges of many disciplines and try to keep my options open.
